It’s not hard to see why Tanzania is famous for its stunning natural beauty. The country is home to the African continent ’s largest and most magnificent mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the highest concentration of predators. Every year, visitors witness the migration of millions of zebras and wildebeest across the stunning Serengeti Plains. There is the beautiful Ngorongoro Crater to explore in the North, the stunning white sand beaches on the island of Zanzibar, amazing African safaris to experience and more. Tanzania is also a country rich in local history and culture. Since 1964, when the United Republic of Tanzania was born by merging both Zanzibar and Tanganyika, more than 120 ethnic groups have peacefully lived together in the country. The language of coastal traders, namely Swahili, was made the national language. HUMAN RIGHTS BODY OBJECTS TO US ARTIST NICKI MINAJ’S ANGOLA CONCERT

Image
‎American hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj’s upcoming performance in oil-rich Angola has become controversial after a prominent human rights body objected to her “doing business” with a country known for its poor human rights record. The New-York based Human Rights Foundation called on Minaj to cancel her trip to the southwestern African state where she is set to perform Saturday at a concert organized by an Angolan mobile phone company, Unitel. Unitel is controlled by Isabel dos Santos, daughter of Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who has been at the helm for decades. “Nicki Minaj is a global artist. Millions of people look up to her for creative inspiration. There is no good reason for her to do business with the corrupt Angolan dictatorship and endorse the ruler’s family company,” the foundation’s President, Thor Halvorssen, said in an open letter to Minaj. “Ms. Minaj, you are well known for being involved with charities…which helps motivate young peopl...

Tennis champion stuns on the cover of Sports Illustrated as the magazine's sports person of the year

Image
Tennis champion, Serena Williams, is the stunning cover girl for Sports Illustrated magazine's latest addition, and even better, has emerged as the magazine's sports person of the year 2015. Serena showed of her fierce energy in these cover photos, looking like the perfect contrast of strength and femininity. From lace to wool and cotton, she was a total woman in these new photos. The opportunity to cover an edition of the magazine, as prestigious as it seems, is nothing compared to the honour of being the first single woman to be honoured as the sports person of the year since 1983. It should be noted that this is the first time a single woman has been honored on the magazine's cover since track and field athlete, Mary Decker , was named the sports person of the year in 1983. Serena has also been named the first active tennis player since Chris Evert earned the title in 1976.

Nigeria Among Fastest-Growing Countries As World Population Hits 9.7 Billion

Image
The United Nations has reported that by 2050, the world’s population will have surpassed 9.7 billion people. High fertility rates in a number of countries have been named as the cause of the extra 2.4 billion people in just 35 years. The countries include India, Nigeria, Pakistan, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, USA, Indonesia and Uganda. India is expected to surpass China as the world’s largest population with the next decade, while Nigeria is expected to have more people than the United States by 2050. The UN predicts that the figure will rise to 11.2 billion people by 2100. John Wilmoth , director of the population division in the UN’s department of economic and social affairs, said that high fertility in some of world’s poorest countries could bring problems. “The concentration of population growth in the poorest countries presents its own set of challenges, making it more difficult to eradicate poverty and inequality, to combat hunger and malnutrition, and to expand...
