Martins Scores Twice In Sounders Return
Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins capped his return to action after almost three months with a bang when he scored twice as Seattle Sounders ended their six-game winless streak with a 4-0 mauling of Orlando City at the CenturyLink Field on Sunday night.
The forward suffered a serious injury in Seattle’s US Open Cup loss to the Portland Timbers in June and returned to the Seattle Sounders starting line-up for the first time in ten weeks.
He gave his side a deserved lead in the 17th minute.
He then sealed the win in the 62nd minute after
debutant Nelson Haedo Valdez had doubled the
advantage ten minutes earlier.
Martins has now scored nine goals in 13 MLS games
this season.
Sounders’ next game is against Olimpia in the
CONCACAF Champions League on Thursday.
